I'm Isaac Cameron, I'm 16 and currently live in Abbotsford, British Columbia. For ten years I’ve lived and played lacrosse all across Canada. Over my many years of playing I have honed my skills as a defenseman, I have met a lot of great players and coaches, and had a lot of fun doing it.
I started playing lacrosse in Owen Sound , a small town in Ontario. There I played for a box lacrosse team called the North Stars for one year. I next moved to Calgary Alberta and played for Axemen box lacrosse, and I also started to play field lacrosse for both the Evolve and Elevate lacrosse programs. I played with these teams for a total of 7 years. I played with Evolve for 5 years and by the end of my time with them my team had won 4 medals in the provincial championship, 2 bronze, 1 silver, 1 gold.
Currently I am playing for the Abbotsford Valley Atack, and the Mission Roadrunner Lacrosse Academy. Over my many years playing I have been coached by amazing people Like, Gord Henry (while playing for evolve), Tyler Pace (while playing with Rival Lacrosse League and Pro Caliber Lacrosse), Ryland Rees (also with Rivals Lacrosse League), and countless others. These coaches have helped me train to become the defenceman I am today.
While playing I have not just trained my skills, but my leadership as well. any one of the coaches listed above, or any of my teammates will say that I am always respectful of the other team, and the officials, but I don't get pushed around. If my team is ever feeling down because of a game, I try to inspire them on and off the field. Whether that means talking to them, or getting a big hit to inspire, I will do it. I am a strong and dependable player who will always defend the net, and take calculated risks.
This year I became an assistant coach for a U13 team, including taking my training to be a “Trained Field Community Development Coach”. I focus on defensive training with the team, including skills and game scenarios.
In the future I want to play at a college at a competitive level. And maybe even professionally.
