I started playing lacrosse in my freshman year of high school not knowing at all how to play and just using my knowledge of football and other sports to play, and these last few years I have already improved so much. I went from being a JV long pole defensive player to a starting Varsity player at LSM, Defense, and face off because I am always working to get better, whether it be watching videos on drills to improve on skills, studying professional lacrosse players, or even practicing individually to get better. No matter what though, I have always been a team first player. When I was in a game this year and took a shot to the head and was told to sit, I trusted the player who went in for me to do his job at the same level I did mine. The lesson I learned from that is that I’m not the only player on my team or at my position, but I’m part of a team. Ever since I‘ve been working to help players who were like me in their first year of the sport to get better and get to an elite level. I find that being an important part of being a leader because they recognize that they are part of a team, not just one single player. Now entering my senior year, I feel that I am at the best level I could possibly be at right now. I’m confident in my team and myself to go out and win some games.
