I’ve tried several different sports throughout my life, but I’ve never connected to one in the way I have with lacrosse. One of the first things that instilled my love for lacrosse is the fact that anybody can find success if they are willing to work hard enough. Although any type of player can certainly have some advantages on the field, they’re no replacement for the time and effort it takes to learn how to properly use those advantages, as well as developing strong stick skills and superior lacrosse IQ. This is why as someone who is often outsized on the field, I’ve learned to rely on and improve my speed and agility, as well as my off hand ability and positioning.
Whether it be a game, practice, or any kind of workout, I’m always putting forth my best effort. Every practice is a chance improve myself and I see no point in not trying to maximize that training time. This mentality has also led to the discovery of box lacrosse and personal training as a means of developing myself and my lacrosse ability.
Although lacrosse has taken over a lot of my life, I make sure to stay ahead on my academics. I know to be successful at both requires a lot of my free time to be spent studying as well as improving my lacrosse ability. Even though I haven’t had any careers in mind, I made the decision in my freshman year to aim for graduating Summa Cum Laude in order to give myself the most options. So far, I am on track to meet that goal.
Since I have not yet decided on my major, I am interested in finding a school that has a broad range of fields of study to explore. In regards to my desired college lacrosse experience, I am looking for a team in which I can learn from the coaches and upperclassmen in order to further develop my skills while still contributing to the team.
