I first learned about lacrosse by watching the movie, "Crooked Arrow," which used real lacrosse players instead of actors. I was 9 years old when the movie piqued my interest. My dad signed me up for a lacrosse camp. After that camp, I knew I was hooked.
Lacrosse has taught me about myself in many ways. It has given me confidence in my abilities to overcome obstacles. It gives the opportunity to be part of a team and develop relationships, where we support each other through good and bad times. I know I will value these relationships far beyond high school and college. I also learned that I love playing defense, as it gives me personal satisfaction defending and protecting my team.
I am very fortunate to have a supportive family but grounded enough to appreciate constructive criticism. I understand that high school gives me a solid foundation for learning and achieving my college goals and am taking advantage of all the learning opportunities now and in the future. I work hard to improve myself every day, pushing myself to my limits and beyond my comfort zone to better understand who I am as a person, as I strive to be the best version of myself I can become.
