At the age of seven, I began playing lacrosse at the local YMCA with a co-ed group of kids with no helmets or pads. From there I began playing club ball for a local team called Louisville Kings Select where I learned how to play attack. We traveled to tournaments, the most memorable one was an NXT Tournament called The Grail in Indianapolis that we won. I was the leading scorer for the tournament with 13 goals. Fast forward a couple years and I've been playing for L4 Select, Team 18 and on my high school varsity lacrosse team since I was a freshman. To this day, I still remember the awesome feeling of camaraderie when I scored a goal that first year in the state semifinals and all the seniors ran onto the field and picked me up. It was one of the best feelings I have ever experienced.
Academics were never the most important thing to me in middle school. I did what I had to do to get bye. I got away with A's, B's, and C's. But when I got to Trinity High School I wanted to see what I was really capable of. I wanted to do my best. At the end of freshmen year I finished with all A's and made principal's list. This showed me that I was capable of doing great in the classroom too. So from that point on I raised the bar for my academics. Getting all A's was the new standard. Sophomore year I ended coming up a little short of my goal. I ended the year with a 3.9 GPA. But school and lacrosse are not the only two things that I do. Recently I have picked up golf. I think it is an excellent game that requires a lot of mental toughness. I also love to fish and play tennis. Those individual sports and activities allow me to focus on myself and concentrate on being in the moment. Conversely, the team concept behind lacrosse allows me to put forth one of my character traits I believe will serve me best in the long run. I have always prided myself on putting the team's goals above my own and always being a truly unselfish teammate. I think the best coaches can always see and appreciate that quality and that is just one of the positive traits that I will bring to my collegiate team.
