My name is Donovan Padilla and I am currently a Junior at Bowie High School in Bowie, Maryland. Prior to playing lacrosse, I played hockey since I was about 8 years old but fell in love with Lacrosse about four years ago and haven’t put my stick down since. I have improved vastly over time and continue to grow my skills. On my team they call me “the enforcer” not because I am a mean or an unkind person but because I get things done on and off the field. When my team is down I bring them up, I always see the good in the bad and on the field I’m there to motivate and execute. My coach has said ”I’m the light of my team.”
I play midfield, faceoff and attack. I am a starting attackmen and currently the leading goal scorer for the team. My favorite position is attack because I love to move the ball around and create my own shot. Even though I may be a little bigger than a typical person who plays attack, I am shifty and can bully the long poles on me. Currently, on maxpreps.com, I am ranked in top 10 for scorers in my state and has been names player of the game too.
Off the field I was selected as a sophomore to represent Prince George’s County Public Schools and my high school at HOBY’s National State Leadership Seminar designed to help high school students to become better effective, ethical leaders for tomorrow. As a Junior, I was chosen to participate in a year-long program called Youth Leadership Bowie which provides leadership opportunities with community and state leaders. The program has taught me how to be a better community leader and the importance of networking and communication.
In school, I am a pretty good student but am always working to get better. I am excited about college and the ability to study topics that I am really interested in. I am not 100% decided on my major, but it will most likely be architecture or psychology. I know that I will not only have to get my undergraduate but also a graduate degree as well. I am interested in a college/university that will be a good match for me academically and also allow me to play lacrosse too!
Thank you taking the time to learn more about me! Donovan
