I am a 14 year-old rising freshman at Ashland High School. I have been playing lacrosse since I was 6 years old when my dad introduced me to the sport. In my many years of playing lacrosse, I have learned to appreciate different coaches and their coaching styles, developed friendships and my confidence on the field. I hope to make the varsity team my freshman year in high school. I have been playing for a club team (The Coyotes), my youth Ashland town team, and the combined Ashland/Holliston Select team. This past season, I helped lead my select team to win the Select D3 Championship in the final game with 2 unanswered goals plus the overtime winner. This was the highlight of my youth lacrosse experience. I have learned a lot from playing lacrosse such as how to work as a team, how to put my team before myself, how to manage my time, and how to take responsibility for my actions on and off the field.
I have grown up in a shared custory arrangement since I was 7. This has affected me in multiple ways. I have needed to balance different responsibilities and expectations from two different households while managing lacrosse and academic commitments as well. I also work through feelings of guilt for needing my two families' help to get to places like tournaments and away games. Playing lacrosse has helped me mature and realize what is important to me. I want to go to college and hope to study political science and civic engagment. This is influenced by my passion for politics, history, and civil rights. My aptitude in civics has been acknowledged by receiving the "Future Lawyer Award" from my 8th grade Civics teacher. I am very proud of this accomplishment.
