Hello Coach,
Thanks for taking time to consider my profile. My name is Sebastian McFarland. Currently I am 16 years old and a junior at H.H. Dow High School in Midland, Michigan. To put this simply, lacrosse is just in my blood, but I know God, family and academics come first. I get goosebumps thinking about my collegiate aspirations and the thought of playing the sport I love at the next level.
I have been playing lacrosse for ten years. I currently play for Team 91 Michigan. I am 6'2" 185lb defenseman. I practice stick handling, footwork, agility drills and shooting almost daily (weather permitting). This spring, I will again play for Dow High varsity lacrosse. I've been to lacrosse camps at U of M, MSU, Notre Dame and Northwood University. I enjoy learning from as many coaches as possible. Prior to Team 91 Michigan, I played summer lacrosse for four travel teams; Premier Lacrosse Group out of Canton Michigan, 989 Lacrosse out of Midland, M3 Elite Lacrosse out of Dewitt and, Dominate Lacrosse, based in Novi, Michigan. I've won several championships over the years with these teams. I also do daily strength training, wall ball and various skill exercises.
I think I am a good candidate (and different than other players) for your consideration because I'm more than just a dedicated lacrosse player. I love my family. I cherish my friends, and I look forward to the friendships I will make. I'm a good student, a musician, and a kind and genuinely caring person. I'm lighthearted, easy going and adaptable. I enjoy volunteering with special needs kids playing baseball in our community. I was chosen to be part of Midland County Youth Leadership and sit on the Superintendent Advisory Panel at my high school. I like to motivate my teammates and try to make friends everywhere I go, especially lacrosse tournaments. I'm fiercely loyal and a relentlessly hard worker. My parents have given me the will, determination and drive to succeed on and off the field.
I am looking for a place where I fit in. A place where I can be successful academically, athletically, and socially. My ideal college or university does not have to be close to home, but it has to feel like home.
