I started playing lacrosse in 5th grade, beginning with playing mid field and later filled the spot of a needed goalie. I fell in love with it and quickly learned how to play. I started playing goalie when I was 12, applying some of my skills as a hockey goalie successfully as a lacrosse goalie. When I reached 7th grade, I helped my team reach the state tournament for the first time. I tried out for and joined Team Minnesota. In subsequent years I have been selected as goalie for MN Select Loons. Freshman year was disappointing because the season was cancelled, but I was excited to start as goalie on my high school varsity team at Cretin-Derham Hall as a sophomore. I held one of the lowest goals against averages in the state and set a school record. I take advanced classes such as French Honors, French AP, Science and engineering Honors, Biology Honors, Chemistry Honors, Accelerated Algebra-2, Accelerated Analysis. I do volunteering as a member of NHS and of my school's JROTC brigade, where I also participate in color guard and the rifle team. I also volunteer in soup kitchens with my grandfather. In addition, my mother is from Ecuador, and I have dual Ecuadorian citizenship and have recently discovered that Ecuador also has a lacrosse league and has played in international competitions. I have reached out to the league to see how I can help and participate, because I would like to see lacrosse expand globally and eventually be included as an Olympic sport.
