Hello,
Let me introduce myself,
My name is Charles Hacking IV ( Chaz) and I live in a small country town in New Hampshire. Most kids that I meet have never heard my town or the school that I go to. This makes it very challenging to get noticed as a competitive player that wants to play at the next level.
I have played sports almost all my life. I started playing baseball and hockey at the age of 5. I became a Junior Black belt by the time I was finished middle school. Karate taught me a lot about self control and confidence that I think everybody should have a chance to try. I continued playing hockey until 7th grade then I really wanted to try basketball because I was so tall compared to a lot of the other kids in my school. My parents said I had to pick one so I tried basketball and it paid off - I made the varsity team as a freshman in high school. During this high school season I realized that I missed the team spirit and the kids playing as one like in hockey. My sophomore year I went back to hockey and made the Varsity team and we went on to win the DIII championship. I will continue with hockey through the rest of my high school years because I really enjoy the sport, the team spirit and it is great conditioning for the spring and lacrosse season. I also played baseball right up through little league ( in my town) and in 8th grade I was too old so I played for the school for the 1st time during this season the coach benched me a lot saying I didn't know how to play and that I was a outsider because I was from a different town. Needless to say this was not a good season but I finished it out and my parents allowed me to join a club lacrosse team to try it out. That 1st season of lacrosse I was hooked, I have never enjoyed a sport as much as I do lacrosse! My freshman year my school was only club but I played almost every minute of every game. My sophomore year we became a JV team and this year we should be a Varsity team and be able to play more competitive teams in DIII. I play lacrosse indoors on Sundays my only day off from hockey just to keep my skills going. I have a back stop, net and bike ramps set up to practice my catching and shooting skills daily. I also joined the NH Tomahawks to start getting myself out there with other kids and coaches. My goal is to play lacrosse at the college level and excel, I want to be the kid from Canterbury NH/ Belmont High school that no one knew where he came from! I can tell you that I am a better hands on learner and I excel at my Engineering program that I am in my 3rd year of at the Hout school in Laconia NH. I am also exploring Criminal Justice or Athletic training for a long term career choice. I keep up on all my classes and make sure that I keep my grades up so I can play sports and get into a good college to pursue all my goals. I have been told that I should set my goals high and try to play at a DII school. I work everyday towards this goal and I am hoping at some point I will be able to prove that to a coach. Thank you for reading this and please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss my future further.
