From 2 lbs 15 oz to 163 lbs in 15 years, I entered this world 10-weeks early! Activities like swallowing, breathing and sucking which are natural to most infants were skills I had to learn before I could go home. My parents say I learned to work hard at a very early age. I was able to “learn” necessary skills to leave the hospital with my parents four weeks before the date I was supposed to be born.
With the guidance and support of my parents, my work ethic as a child has shaped who I am today; especially in school and in the sports I play (lacrosse and soccer in high school). While I achieve good grades, I work hard throughout the school day and after practice often spending several hours every night to complete homework and prepare for the next day.
I also work hard to be the best athlete I can be. When I started playing lacrosse, I played on the top New Hampshire Tomahawk (purple) 2020 team. However, I was growing fast and did not have the foot speed and agility to move fast at first and I needed to work on my stick skills. So I was put on the second team (gold). While that disappointed me, I listened to my coach’s recommendations and worked hard to improve my foot speed and stick skills. I spent hours using the bounce-back, on the ladder and running. After a couple of years, my hard work paid off and I earned a spot back on the 2020 Purple New Hampshire Tomahawk team.
I want to play lacrosse at the highest level possible and be a top-performing student-athlete during college. My parents have taught me the importance of balancing school and sports and have given me a foundation from which to work and succeed playing lacrosse in college and prepare for a career after college. I plan to use my high school years to be ready to attend a high-quality college or university and to contribute to a strong lacrosse program.
When I’m not in school or playing lacrosse, I enjoy hanging out with my friends, weight training, running, and continuing to work on my stick skills, riding my mountain bike, and downhill skiing. I would also like to share my love for lacrosse and plan to volunteer to help coach youth lacrosse.
My parents are both educators. My mom teaches middle school math, and earned a BA in education from the University of Florida and an MA in secondary mathematics education from Indiana University. My dad is a professor of economics and earned a BA in economics from Michigan State University and a PhD in economics from Indiana University.
My goal is to play lacrosse at the highest possible level in college. I believe I have the on-and-off-the-field work ethic and personality to succeed and contribute to a college lacrosse team. I work hard to balance school and athletics and look forward to contributing to a college lacrosse team. Thank you for reading this and considering me for your program.
