Taking on a new position during my freshman year led to unexpected growth on and off of the field. I started my freshman year as a regular midfield player on the J.V. team. We did not have an LSM (long stick midfielder) on the J.V. team, so I decided to help out the team and play the position. After playing one game as an LSM, I was given the opportunity to play with the varsity team. This motivated me to fight my way for the starting position of LSM on the varsity team, now playing with different and better competitors.
During my sophomore year, my dedication in my freshman year and off-season practicing paid off as I helped my team win the Klank conference , where I had eighty seven ground balls and was named Second Team All Conference for the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference. At the end of the season, I was rewarded by being named team captain for my junior year season, where I can further work on my teamwork and leadership skills. I will continue to push myself academically, and am hoping to play lacrosse at the collegiate level while also balancing my academic studies.
