My name is Dakota Bourgie, I go to Putnam Valley High School, in Putnam County, New York. I play club and school lacrosse and ice hockey. I started playing ice hockey when I was a toddler, and lacrosse in 1st grade. By 5th grade, lacrosse had become my primary sport and true passion. I believe that playing two sports enhanced my athleticism and that hockey gave me a competitive edge for lacrosse defensively and offensively.
I am a two-handed player, good at dodging and finishing around the net, and I am just as happy to have an assist as a goal. I enjoy the comradery of my teammates and having a great rapport with my coaches. I believe that being a student-athlete teaches commitment and responsibility, as it promotes balance. To be successful at both takes a lot of work, not just practicing, but working out, eating right, getting enough rest, and studying.
My love for the sport, and passion for the game, has led me to follow college lacrosse, which has increased my acumen. While I have played midfield most of my career, I am currently playing attack for my high school team, however, I still play midfield for my club team. I will play wherever I am most needed by my team. I would love to play college lacrosse and aim for a well-rounded college experience academically, socially, and athletically.
