After a middle school struggle season in eighth grade and the cancellation of my freshman season due to COVID, I was pretty excited to finally have a shot at some real lacrosse my sophomore year. My lack of experience at the time left me on the bench for the vast majority of the season, but I most certainly did not come out of it having gained nothing. I ended the season with only about 5 or 6 minutes of play time, but that was enough for me to decide that I wanted that starter position the next year. For the entire summer I went to training sessions at a local gym, and began working on my lacrosse skills. I attended multiple camps and clinics, usually alongside my best friend who is also on the team.
Box lacrosse came and went, and I spent most of it in goal. Spring arrived and my dedication was put to the test. To my excitement, I started on the wing for almost all of our games. I would have to pin it on my ability to win ground balls, protect my stick on the run, even while being chased and shoved by 4 or 5 opponents, and to create opportunities off-ball, whether it be for myself or someone else. I have spent the entire summer practicing my shooting and dodging skills at home and at camps and clinics. I am excited to showcase how much potential I have as a player in my Senior year and college.
