My name is Jackson Palermo. I have played many sports since elementary school- soccer, swimming, football, basketball and lacrosse. For my first five years, I played all positions in lacrosse in order to learn the sport. But I found my home in the goal so I began focusing on developing myself to be a collegiate goalie in middle school. I have exclusively played goalie since 5th grade. I enjoy helping develop my local youth lacrosse program, leading the goalie development program.
As a goalie, I strive to lead my team to have an unstoppable defense. I am known as a humble player that leads both on and off the field. I focus on developing a deep lacrosse IQ, my athletic skills and knowledge of my teammates both on and off the field. This allows me to use my teammates strengths and personalities as a team when applying my coaches' strategies against the attack in game-time situations. My coaches often describe my strengths as coachable, leadership, loyalty, perseverance, determination and teamwork. These are key for me as I often lead a defense with more than 50% new players each season whether playing for my school or club teams.
I am looking forward to playing lacrosse at the collegiate level to help a program achieve its team goals; perhaps a conference or national championship, while I pursue my academic interests in mechanical or aerospace engineering. I put the same effort into my academic work as I do on the field. I collaborate with my classmates and teachers to create a structure that allows me to succeed.
