Achieving good grades in school and being able to play high level lacrosse has taught me many things, including leadership skills, teamwork skills, and the importance of having a good work ethic. I became interested in lacrosse at the age of five and I instantly loved it: the competition, the skills, the floor, the field, and especially working as a team.
During my years of lacrosse, I have learned that size doesn’t matter and that skill cannot compete with hard work. If a bigger kid doesn’t work hard and the smaller one does, the smaller kid will prevail. Some athletes have a lot of natural skill but fail to work hard and that seems such a waste to me. I have never been the biggest player on my team, but I have still been chosen to be the recipient of awards including the sportsmanship award and the award for best defensive player for both my field and box teams. Highlights in my athletic career have included winning the Provincial Championships in both field and box lacrosse, as well as hockey.
I get straight A’s in school and hope to maintain a 3.7 or higher GPA in high school. I play rep hockey in the winter months, and I am a leader on and off the field. I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me academically and athletically. I am sure that I not only have the skill to play at a college level, but I have the leadership skills, grades, and work ethic to excel at your school.
