My name is Nicholas Lucas and I am a midfielder/attackman from Nashville,TN at Montgomery Bell Academy. In my lacrosse career so far I have learned the struggle of playing a physical sport but also the benefits of teamwork. My career started when I was in second grade when my brother started playing lacrosse at his school. I quickly gained an interest in the sport and signed up for summer and fall camps at my brother's school. Here I began growing as a player and becoming better everyday as I started playing travel the next year and did not stop. Soon enough a few years later, I finally began playing for my school team and a few years later I switched to my brother's school and began playing for them. Due to COVID, I lost my seventh grade year of lacrosse but I still played constantly on my own, and the next year my coach switched my position from defense to offense. Looking back, this was the best decision for me because I was a smaller defenseman and other players were beginning to get bigger and stronger. I utilized my athletic ability, agility, and speed to adapt to midfield and playing offense.
Now I am playing my second year of high school lacrosse and am continuing to grow as a player. Over the course of my journey I learned the benefits of being on a team, how to adjust to coaching and how to listen, and I learned that I had to work and practice outside of practice on my own constantly. These skills that I have gained made me an even better player and teammate.
