2023 SpotlightPersonal Statement
Rowing is my highest passion in life. I was introduced to the sport the summer before my 8th-grade year when I did a camp. I immediately fell in love with it and joined my area's competitive high school team. the feeling of gliding through the water in time with your crewmates is simply magical.
Rowing crew brings out the best qualities in me. I am a natural leader among my peers and like to lead by example. I flourish when hard work is necessary, and rowing compels me to always put in 110% effort with my best foot forward. Before rowing, I've gone extensively into Karate, baseball, and basketball, but rowing is truly the best fit for me.
In addition to crew, I also love playing music. I've played the trumpet since I was six, and I believe it is very connected to rowing crew in its importance to timing and formulated movement.
High school crew challenges my rowing skills to get more advanced, but collegiate rowing would extend my abilities much further. It would change my life if I could row crew in college, in the best way possible.
