I have competitively played many sports as I grew up. In a very sports minded town, I realized to be better I had to find the sports I had passion for. I have found that in rowing and because of that, I embrace the hard work and dedication to improve. I came upon crew almost by accident as we looked for off season sports to help my wrestling strength. I tried a summer crew camp between my 8th grade and freshman years and have been working on my technique ever since, taking off over a minute from my fall to spring 2k erg time.
I was one of only 4 from a group of 32 that rowed in every race that first season. I really enjoyed my freshman rowing year as we came together as a team, I supported my teammates and began to emerge as a leader on the team as we won our state championships and enjoyed a trip to the National Schools' Championship Regatta. I'm definitely not afraid of hard work as seen by my sport choices and my academic results.
I continue to work hard and look forward to the opportunity to row at the collegiate level. I think my dedication and integrity will serve me well there.
