I am looking for an outstanding school where I can pursue my engineering degree while continuing to pursue my passion for rowing. Being able to combine these two in a school where I can earn my degree and grow leadership and life skills is a dream for me.
I feel very strongly about my academics and have pushed myself to excel while exploring the fields of science and engineering. My 4 years of science research to date into the drag reducing properties of artificial shark skin has opened my eyes to possible careers in naval, mechanical and marine engineering. Working on ships and at sea seems like a perfect combination of my love of marine biology, engineering and being outdoors on the water (like I do in rowing).
I had the opportunity to improve my rowing skills this past summer at a U18 Men’s US Rowing development camp in Maine. With a new coach this season for my club team, I’m excited for the possibilities as I PR in my erg pieces and work hard to earn my spot in the V8+. It’s hard to believe this is my 5th year of rowing ang I’m proud of the progress I have made each year.
I also still want to balance my time to continue with Boy Scouts and Venture Crew while in high school. I obtained my Eagle Scout rank and multiple palms in 2017 and am currently helping my troop plan a large District Camporee as a Junior Scoutmaster. I also completed my advanced open water certification this summer through the Venture Crew and dream of diving surf great white sharks some day.
