I was 12 years old when I first started rowing. After a month, I jumped into the 9th seat, I suddenly fell in love with being the coxswain. Taking charge and pushing people to their limits came naturally to me. At the start of my 8th grade year, I was coxing at the high school level. By the time I entered 9th grade, I was the head varsity coxing. With that came a huge responsibility, that forced me to step up my game. My freshman year, not only did I improve as a coxswain but I learned new techniques to get the most out of my rowers. The beginning of my sophomore year, my head coach pushed me beyond my own limits as a coxswain. With this knowledge, I am able to push my crew beyond their limits.
At the end of my sophomore year, I realized I don't want my time with rowing to end when high school does. I have a passion and love for this sport. I want to attend a college or university where I can continue doing what I love the most. I am excited to see how far I can push myself as a coxswain. Being challenged, winning and wanting to be the best is what I strive for.
