Personal Statement
For me, one of the most important aspects of life is balance. I've always believed that if you balance your life you can achieve great things. With that being said, I always really liked sports, playing soccer for most of my early years and later sailing. Rowing though, was presented to me in 2014 when my brother joined a rowing club and invited me later on to come with him.
Since then, me and my brother have achieved great results, coming in second at the National Championship, rowing the double scull. We would wake up every school day around 4am and row from 5am to 6:30am and then head off to school. In the afternoon we would go back and lift weights to complete the training. On Saturdays practice would be a bit later, starting at 7 and finishing around 9, those were some really exhausting times.
But as I said earlier, balance is a fundamental part of my life, so rowing was only a part of it, I wanted to do so much more. In 2015 me and my family moved to South Africa, and that's where my life changed. We lived there for six months, of which were one of the greatest times of my life. There I learnt how to properly speak English, discovered a new culture and made new friends. After this experience I knew I had to find a way to combine all these things I liked, to find the balance I needed.
When I went back to Brazil I continued rowing, this time even stronger and more concentrated which lead to great results, but I wanted to try to travel once more, and I did. This time I went by myself to New Zealand, where I also stayed for six months and even had the time to row there.
So now, when 2020 finished, after a year of social-distancing, online classes and not being able to row everyday, I knew I had to make this dram come true, where I could travel, study and practice sports. Which brings me on to here, where I'm trying to accomplish this.
My interested areas of study are Engineering and Business, to which I think I can make the biggest impact on my community when I come back home.
This is a little bit about me and my story,
Thanks,
