Personal Statement
I have played sports and been passionate about them for as long as I can remember. Through the countless sports I have participated in I have learned a lot about myself, my relationships and disciplines I can use through any aspect of my life. Engaging in a variety of sports such as soccer, baseball, swimming, rowing and athletics have taught me to not only work in a team and learn from others but also as an independent athlete to be able to push myself. In rowing, I feel as though I'm not only an independent athlete, I'm part of a team, a community. I have always tried to thrive in these communities by always putting my hand up to help others, whether it's just helping to carry a boat down or cleaning the clubhouse on our rest days.
Through the unique individual training we take part in, I have acquired the skill to push myself to the level of my peers, putting 100% effort into every training session. By creating such a vigorous competitive atmosphere, I strive to not only beat my teammates and make physical gains but also push myself psychologically, seeing just how hard I can push my body and mind. Training and competing in all these different teams and sports has taught me to adapt to working with all types of athletes and coaches. This style of training has transferred these sets of skills into my academics. I strive at school to not only get good grades but to be an involved member of my school community. In 2023/4, through a student and teacher voting process I was voted in as a school prefect.
In college, I would love to study marine science or environmental geography as I've really enjoyed studying geography and Earth Environmental science and I'm extremely interested in the ocean.
