I rowed on my high school girls' team for a year and a half from 7th-8th grade. I switched to coxing in 8th, and then switched over to our boys team in 9th. I'm currently in my sophomore year coxing our 2v boys boat. I greatly enjoy coxing and practice is something I look forward to doing after school.
On the guys team this year, I've formed strong bonds with many of the boys, which proved sometimes difficult with the gender barrier. I recognize coxing with emotional intelligence and understand how to communicate with tone and attitude in the boat. I have made connections with every coach in my high schools rowing program and continue to work with them everyday to improve my technique and abilities.
I go to Boston Latin School one of the best public schools in the country, and am taking all honors classes, and 1 AP my sophomore year. I work and study hard in school while doing multiple extra curricular's. I'm an officer of the Gender Sexuality Alliance at our school as well as being a member of Art Club and Women's Collective. I've been playing the cello in our schools orchestra for 4 years and am a part of Student Leadership. Over the summer I assist in leading Learn to Row, a 3 week long program for students interested in joining the team.
I take my sport seriously and greatly enjoy my time on the water and on land, I'm interested in coxing in college and understand what a great opportunity that would be for me. I'm interested in competitive or semi-competitive rowing, but I'm open to any rowing in college. I would prefer to stay on a mens team, though I'm open to women's as well.
