Personal Statement

In order to be fast on the water, rowers must want to put in the work for each other. As captain of my club, I actively balance inclusivity and competitiveness. I have demonstrated an aptitude for inclusivity by being the first to start the warm up run and the last to finish it, organizing team ultimate frisbee games and winter workouts, and teaching other members of the club how to properly set up/take down coach boats. I have encouraged competitiveness and displayed leadership by setting up meetings with coaches to create a more advanced group of rowers to participate in extra practices, implementing early morning erg sessions, and setting goals with fellow rowers about where they want to place in regattas and what time they want there 2k to be by the end of the season.

Additionally, my ambition and passion for rowing shows in my off-season training program. Every week, I fit in 7-12 workout sessions at the gym. I juggle these sessions with three jobs, academics, plays/musicals, and time-consuming extracurriculars. This proves that I am a hardworking individual who is capable of balancing higher ed with higher level rowing. My ambition makes my potential limitless because I am constantly seeking to overcome obstacles and achieve goals for both myself and my crew members. Therefore, any collegiate program that is built upon a foundation of competitiveness and growth is an environment that I will thrive in. I can't wait to work with like-minded individuals who share a love of rowing and a hunger for winning.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
