In college, I want to be able to row. I've always been extremely driven and I have enjoyed the competition. At the college level, the competition only grows and I want to go to that next, new level. I want to help bring a team to success, playing my part along the way. I want to help make an impact and bring the team to a greater success than before.
I used to be a wrestler. It was a very difficult sport, but it has taught me a lot about the difference between not wanting to do something and pain. Whenever I'm racing and it hurts and I want to stop, I'm driven to push past that "pain" and I'm able to push myself past a mental barrier. It taught me sportsmanship, respect, and humility, but I chose to leave after a hand energy and I could truly focus on rowing, bringing those lessons with me.
I've always loved my STEM classes. It's given me problem-solving skills that have carried over into rowing. My coach has even given me the opportunity to bow our straight four, because of the skills I've picked up, along with my responsibility and attendance record being held highly. I've held such a high standard of course rigor in high school and it has helped me with my time management.
Overall, I'm excited to row in college. Rowing has shown me that I'm truly addicted to improvement and I will relentlessly work until I can achieve the standards for a coach to take a chance on me.
