Personal Statement

I have been a dedicated runner since 8th grade, but last year I decided to experiment with rowing. It drew me because it was an endurance sport dominated by tall guys. Running isn't dominated by tall people, the average pro marathon runner is 5'8". I quickly became obsessed, and now spend hours on the erg for no reason other than the love of the sport and the hope of competing in college.

  • I first did youth track in 5th grade, and I started training year-round in 8th grade. I usually train for 6-8 hours a week.

  • 1 year
  • I decided I wanted to pursue rowing in college, and started rowing on a Concept2 because there are no opportunities to row near me. I've mostly just done 40-50k a week on the erg during the off-seasons of track and cross-country.
