Hi, I'm Evan Carr. I am currently a sophomore at Eastside Prep in Kirkland, Washington. I really enjoy school and have consistently done well in all of my classes. It should be noted that my school does not offer AP or Honors classes. I really enjoy all things related to the Humanities, such as English, History and Creative Writing. I love to write everything from essays to short stories, and I have even started working on a novel.
I started rowing my freshman year at Pocock Rowing Club in Seattle, and have since been rowing through my school, Eastside Prep. I love the community rowing provides, and love being able to row in unity with others. I am a very competitive person and love to race, and find the feeling of rowing as fast as I can both relaxing and invigorating. I think that because I have not been rowing for very long I can be more receptive to feedback than most, and am willing to implement changes in my technique and style quickly. I also play ultimate frisbee on the JV team, have run cross country in the past, and recreationally downhill ski, cross-country ski and play tennis.
I also really enjoy community service, and find it very fulfilling. I have done a lot of work with a Seattle non-profit called Water1st, which helps bring clean water to people in impoverished countries. I was a member of the youth board program there throughout Middle School, and hope to return this upcoming school year.
