I have been a soccer player since age five. It has been a great journey since then, and has taught me a tremendous amount about setting goals, working hard, and accomplishing what I set out to do. Those skills have carried over into every part of my life, especially school. Success will come if I work hard enough; on the pitch, in the classroom, and beyond.
Self discipline is one of the most valuable skills that I have learned through soccer. Its up to me to train, physically and mentally, to be ready to compete. I like to win, so I push myself to be the best I can be. This applies to other areas of my life as well. I know what it takes to succeed, and I know the importance of hard work and dedication.
I've learned to play well with others, so to speak. It takes a lot of individual skill for a team to be victorious, but the ability to communicate and work together is absolutely essential. My teammates are like family and I trust them completely. I know they share the same drive and dedication to the game that I have.
Off the pitch, I am very fortunate to have other people/groups in my life that have shaped me. School, family, and faith are definitely top priorities for me. At school I strive for good grades because I know the benefits. I want to go to college, and lay the best foundation I can for the path I choose to take in life. As for my family, I'm thankful for them because they have taught me, and supported me, in every endeavor. They have raised me in a way that has developed strong character and leadership ability, while instilling solid values, and a strong spiritual foundation to rely on. My youth group at church has also been integral in shaping my character and values.
As I enter my Senior year in high school, my goal is to successfully complete high school, find the college that will give me the foundation I need for a career, all while playing the sport I love at the highest competitive level.
