Andre Hoglin '20 Recruiting Profile

Dear to whom it may concern,

Behind every person, there is a story to be told. From every success that they earn, to every failure that they experience. From the hardships of daily life, to the joy of friendships. My name is Andre Hoglin, but it’s not only my name: It’s my story.

Throughout my life I have experienced the same things that everyone has faced: failure, success, stress, and happiness. However, the experiences the I’ve faced has shaped me into the person today. Some of the success that I’ve experienced in my life can be attributed to my three siblings growing up. The reason for this revolves around the idea of competition. Everything was competitive; from your test scores to board games to sports. This instills a mentality to work-hard and put your 100% effort into everything that you do.

This mentality is key in the successes and failures that you experience in life. One of my biggest successes was making the Barca Academy for soccer. I achieved my goal through my hard-work on and off the field to get myself into this position. However, I’ve also had many failures in my life as well. One of my biggest setbacks was failing to make the State ODP soccer team growing up. Even though, I didn’t make the team, I continued to work-hard in all of my soccer trainings to find success in my high school and Barcelona teams.

All of these experiences have taught me many things: work hard, give everything you have, and strive for success. These characteristics have helped define who I am today.
