I aspire to be a trauma nurse by pursuing a nursing degree. This career fits my hardworking personality. Nursing is ever changing, requiring attention to detail during treatment assessment, but also comforting words at the right moment when communicating with patients and families.
Playing soccer is similar to nursing because it is also ever changing. I feel a good soccer player does not only need performance-based skills, but life and character skills as well. I believe it is important to be responsible and accountable for my actions; including preparation, work ethic, willingness to learn, facing failures, and adversity.
I believe that responsibility and work ethic should be two of the most important values in any soccer player. I hold my teammates to the same standards that I set for myself. I expect my teammates to show up for practice and games on time and prepared to play. I hold myself to this same expectation showing others that I am equally committed. Nothing frustrates me more than when I see others performing without the highest work ethic possible. I expect my teammates to always work as hard as they can; so together we can be the best we can be as a team. This is why I make sure that I am also putting forth my best effort at all times.
As a student I take my education very seriously. I want to have the skills to succeed on and off the field. My education is important to me, even though my path to balancing academics and athletics has been challenging. I believe in the effort I have put forth by learning this balance, and I feel I can succeed the same way at the college level. I currently am enrolled in advanced placement classes as well as practicing and traveling 15 hours weekly. I feel that keeping a 4.0 GPA through hard work proves my commitment to the sport and my academics.
