My name is Brady Highfill, I am a 6’5” goalkeeper and a 2021 graduate from Garces Memorial High school in Bakersfield, California. I have played competitive club soccer since I was 8 years old; I am currently playing club soccer with the LA Galaxy Oro 2002 team in the premier level in the Coastal League and the National Cup. Last year, our team placed first in the Gold Division where I was only scored on once.
As a goalkeeper I standout not only because of my height (6’5”) but my ball handling skills and quick reflexes. I am dependent upon my team to be an outlet in the defensive portion of the field and play the ball with my feet and create opportunities. An example of my ball handling skills, as a freshman I played the number 9 (striker) and was selected for the golden boot award for the most goals scored. Last year, playing for the LA Galaxy Oro team I only conceded 2 goals. My command presence in the goal and confidence in my ability has been a strength to the team and successful as a team. I received the “Most Valuable Defender” as a sophomore and was recognized at club tournaments for being dominant in the goal.
It's extremely important to me to be just as successful academically. My overall grade point average(GPA) is 3.8 and my current GPA is 4.0 . I also was chosen by my teachers for Project Lead the Way and I have taken the opportunities to participate in the student council since 6th grade. I believe it is important to be a leader on the field and off the field. I am looking forward to the opportunity and achieving one of my goals of playing soccer at the collegiate level and obtaining my college degree.
