Throughout my playing career I have learned to be hard-working and disciplined because of the knowledge I've gained both on and off the field. Connecting my preferred field of study to the sport I love is an ideal thing for me to do. Playing soccer at the college level will allow me to do just that. I will learn more about the game as a whole and gain more knowledge to further continue my career. I would like to stay involved with soccer even if I am not playing, such as helping out with professional soccer teams in some form. I’ve had to mature much quicker than others playing a year up from my age my whole soccer career. This made me have to work harder to perfect my skills as well as my mindset. I’ve had to learn how to adapt to the level of play seeing kids be stronger and faster than me. I quickly realized I needed to put in extra hours and train in ways that others wouldn’t. I have also realized the importance of communicating effectively. I have been in the Spanish Immersion program since Kindergarten and it has allowed me to be fluent in both Spanish and English..Speaking in different languages has helped me to think differently and made me a better communicator. Being able to adapt to the situation allows me to have more discipline and makes it easier to listen to feedback. I learned to become more physically and mentally strong. I will always be the guy to challenge a player no matter their size, but knowing when to do so is also very important. I find these things important while making split second decisions on the field and can be the difference maker. My experiences with my soccer career and academics have helped me to grow into a more disciplined and hard-working team player.
