My collegiate goals are to be successful in academics and in athletics. My aspiration to play soccer at the college level started in my sophomore year of high school soccer. My coach and my family made me realize that I have a potential as an athlete to play soccer at the college level. But in order to do that, I have to put in the hard work to get a better chance to get recruited by the top college teams in the nation. I am willing to suffer now and become a champion later on. In every soccer game, high school or a pickup game with friends; I use all of energy and passion to win it all. I hate to lose, it makes me disappointed of myself and my team. I'm a player who puts in the sweat and passion day and night to get better for the team and bring the team together as one to win championships.
Letter of Recommendation:
Quincy Junior/Senior High School
Mr. Gregory Prouse ext 5113
To whom it may concern:
I am writing on behalf of Sein Yoacham upon request for a letter of recommendation for his future ambitions. I have had the pleasure of meeting Sein when I took a position this year as a junior/high school history teacher, as well as the high school men’s soccer coach. In that position and time, I have gotten to know Sein. I can easily and happily recommend him based on the plentiful qualities he possesses, that make him stand out among his peers.
Sein has shown from the first day we met, when he and a few other soccer players came to introduce themselves, that he was a natural leader. He followed that first meeting, by opening lines of communication with me during the summer to better prepare for the upcoming season. His comfortability with communicating is a skill most adults in this day and age are lacking. The first day of actual practice I watched Sein go introduce himself and speak with new members to the team and community. I continued to watch over the next few weeks as he continued to make sure that person felt included as a member of the soccer community. He did the same with the incoming freshmen. Serving as a mentor and leader with no prompting. It made it an easy choice to choose him to captain the 2018 soccer team. A choice that was rewarded by his clear leadership. He was more than capable, whether it was in organizing practices, getting the team started or cleaning up after practices and games. Sein was an absolutely integral part of the success the team had in going 12-1-1 this season and finishing third in Northern California. He was named as one of Pioneer Valley League all-league athletes for 2018, as well as getting the nomination from me as the offensive MVP of the league. On field and during the game, it was easy to see the respect others had in him going into the season. When the team was struggling and facing tough competition, Sein was frequently able to dig deep and lend his strength to spark a rally and eventual win, time and again. Although Sein is graduating this year, he has left a lasting impression for the younger athletes. Serving both as a role model, and friend to a number of new players.
His success is not limited to just the field. He is also exemplary in the classroom as well, where he has to this point earned a weighted GPA of 3.61. Consistently achieving marks that show his ability to thrive in any opportunity where learning and growth are needed. He has overcome significant barriers only to show those that get to know him, that he is, and most likely never has been truly hindered. This can be attributed his drive to grow and thrive regardless of what faces him. Again exhibiting skills lacking in most adults across the spectrum of age.
With strengths like communication, the inclusion of all, and desire for success, it is an easy choice to recommend Sein Yoacham for any task he chooses in life. I am absolutely confident that he will go into any new opportunity and succeed, based on the time I was able to get to know him.
Best,
Gregory Prouse
