My goals are to attend college and play soccer at the collegiate level. I love the sport of soccer and the competition but I am as equally passionate about my education and career goals. I aspire to become a professional soccer player but until I get there I will strive to obtain a degree in biology that may qualify me to work in the field of sports medicine as a doctor. I come from a family that values education. I am accountable to them to be a good student and to be in good academic standing. Both my desire to play soccer and my career goals motivate me to balance between my school work and soccer practice.
As an athlete I strive to be the best that I can be; I push hard towards beating my own performance goals. To do so, I attend every practice, I train before and at times after practice. I train hard and I discipline my body by eating healthy and staying away from junk food. This has not been easy but I want to give myself the best chance that I can by not only working on the field but off the field.
In my short soccer career, I have made it a point to listen to my coaches instructions and to learn from them via their feedback and correction. I have had the privilege to compete in different leagues, with different teams and be coached by talented coaches (e.g. MLS Next, US Academy, ECNL, NPL, Pro+/ODP) and with great players at the local and national level. These experiences have also taught me to adjust to different skill sets, to work with diverse teammates and adapt to different coaching styles. I will continue to work, compete and grow with hopes that one day I can play at the collegiate and professional level. I thank you for taking the time to read my personal statement.
Respectfully,
Ethen Solano
