Personal Statement

My name is Pauly Ulrich and I am a goalkeeper.  Growing up playing baseball I was used to saying "I am a center fielder."  I never imagined playing soccer.  But I felt called to do so my senior year of high school - much to my baseball coach's consternation and my parents' confusion.  I tried out for the Horizon Men's Varsity Soccer Team and I became the starting goalkeeper.  Being in goal felt like coming home - it was where I belonged.  And, even though it was only my very first year playing soccer, I was honored with the following awards; Coastal League 2nd Team, 1st Team CIF, I received the Coaches Choice Award, made the San Diego Union Tribune All Academic Team for soccer, I have the 2011 CIF San Diego Section Individual Record for Most Saves In A Season (268) and there were only 4 goalkeepers in the entire state who had more saves than I did.  I also played baseball, was a captain on the Horizon Men's Varsity Baseball Team, starting center fielder, helped take my team to the CIF Playoffs Final, was honored with the Gold Glove Award, inducted into the Horizon Baseball Hall of Fame, made CIF 1st Team and again the San Diego Union Tribune All Academic Team for baseball.   I then went on to play club soccer, I trained with an additional club team and I am also on the Pro Soccer Consulting Elite Player Development Team.  I am currently a starting goalkeeper for the San Diego Mesa College Men's Soccer Team.  I am also an assistant coach for the Horizon Varsity Soccer Team - I love coaching.  I just completed a season playing for Coach Darren Parker's U23 club team. (http://www.soccernation.com/darren-parker-launches-successful-u23-mens-team-cms-4625). I am focused, determined, diligent, honorable and I have a very strong work ethic.  My dream is to play professional soccer someday.  My goal is to transfer to a 4 year university, earn an academic and athletic scholarship and receive my degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
