Joel Lara '23 Recruiting Profile

My name is Joel Lara, and since the age of 5 I have been in love with the sport of soccer. As a little kid, I was inspired by my older cousins and wanted to be just like them.  At the age of 9, I was faced with one of the biggest challenges in my soccer career. The coach invited me to play with the U-11 team. I immediately noticed that I was smaller than all the other kids.  At that moment I knew that I would have to be the hardest worker on the team, and I still find that to be true to this day. Something that makes me good candidate is my leadership skills both on and off the field. I am also a very flexible player in the sense that I can adapt my playing style, and finally, I play every game with passion like its my last. Something that sets me apart from other recruits is how well rounded I am. I maintain a 3.5+ GPA all year as well as participate in many school activities.
