I learned from a young age to embrace challenges and to utilize them to propel yourself forward. For instance, when I was six-years-old, entering first grade with incompetent English skills due to my Hispanic upbringing, I faced possible retention; however, my young mind exaggerated the severity of this consequence, making it seem like the end of the world. So this news actually pushed me to ask for help and develop into a diligent student. Fortunately, I was able to improve my grades and move onto the second-grade. Now, I'm a straight-A student taking AP and college courses, and I'm ranked first in my class.
My two main goals for college are to obtain a degree in a top-ranked program and to attain new heights in my soccer abilities. I understand this will be a new challenge for me, and most likely the most difficult one yet. But considering my past and constant hunger for improvement, I'm confident I will thrive and flourish both on and off the field.
