My name is Oscar Arturo Cambra Machuca. I’m 18 years old. I’m a Venezuelan player with a big potential in soccer. Everything begins in my childhood; since I was 6 years old I’ve being developing abilities in this discipline and important sport as it is soccer. I was born with talent to manage the ball in the field. This passion begins in my beloved country Venezuela and now in this big country of opportunities, United States of America.
It all started in the Italian-Venezuelan club of Maracay, my hometown, in that club I enjoyed soccer recreationally, through games and interaction with my teammates and childhood friends, I progressively developed with the participation of state and national tournaments, defending the position of offensive midfielder, I belonged to this club for 3 years, being called for the first time to be part of the State Selection in my sub 10 category.
Later I was transfer to be part of one of the best teams in my country, such as the junior soccer school of the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV), performing as a midfielder, there I continued to advance in the improvement of techniques and connection between coaches and teammates, having the opportunity to be summoned consecutively for 5 years to continue representing the state of Aragua (Venezuela). Being a young man of 14 years old, I received the called the Aragua Fútbol Club (Venezuela) to be part of the ranks of the first division team, where I continued learning and improving more and more in my potential as a soccer player, I had the opportunity to be appointed as captain of the team during one year.
Continuing in the Aragua Fútbol Club, as a midfielder, once again I received the called from the National Team of my country Venezuela, category sub 15. These have been long years of preparation, perseverance and discipline. At the age of 15, my family and I made the decision to come to live in the United States of America, looking for a better future and challenges to meet. I arrived to the city of Miami, Fl, belonging immediately to being selected in the Miami South Ridge high school soccer team, participating in the state high school league and also I belonged to the Coral State team in Miami Florida, participating in different tournaments.
After a while, we moved to Denver, Colorado, for many reasons like better job offers for my parents and family development, people recommended us this state as an ideal place to advance and grow as a family, student, athlete and person. Before I came from Miami, i had heard about Colorado Rapids Young, as the first minor and first division soccer team in that state. With the support of my parents we sent mail to do some soccer test, this is how I did the tryouts after a month of having arrived in Colorado in September 2018, I was selected to belong to Select 02B of that club participating in my first season of spring 2019. With Select 02B I played the champions league in the Colorado State Association, the highest level for the state association, remaining runners-up in the State Cup, later traveling to Boise, Idaho for the Regionals.
In my second season with Colorado Rapids, I became a member of ECNL 01 / 02B, the highest level in the youth club, this team played the ECNL Mountain Conference league, traveling around the region to competitions. I was currently promoted to ECNL 03 / 02B (Rapids Elite) in this summer 2020 after a competitive tryout, which had a duration of one month. This is how I
continue to strive as an athlete, giving my best in each practice, in each friendly game, preparing myself for the new 2020/2021 season, learning every day from experiences, on and off the field, working with the best disposition, constancy and discipline. It is valid to note that in my 3 seasons I have been ratified and selected to continue with such a valuable club, receiving a scholarship from both the club and Zarlengo (Hispanic scholarship).
On the other hand, I have also been selected for 2 consecutive seasons in the Vista Peak Preparatory High School team to which I belong, being the captain of the team as well as being a good student committed both academically and as an athlete. In my high school team, I was awarded the distinction last season by receiving the awards as best player, best scorer and being among the best 11 players in the district.
In this way I continue to improve my soccer skills, thanking above all the opportunities that each of the different clubs, coaches, family members and colleagues that I have had has given to me, since this has been base factor to continue giving my best in my journey as a person, a player and achieve my great dream of going to the University, doing what I like the most, playing soccer and if God allows me to become a great professional player.
