I am Charlie Sears with the class of 2020 at Darien High School in Darien, Connecticut.
Reflecting on my past sports achievements, what really stands out to me was when I was awarded with All FCIAC (Fairfield Country Interscholastic Athletic Conference) First Team. It was quite an honor to have been awarded this in my first year living and playing in Connecticut representing Darien High School. Although what really stood out to me was what my coach had told me after we had lost our first two games of the season. Jon Bradley tapped on my shoulder and said, "Don't look back at that scoreboard and think that that's what went wrong. Think about what we have to do in the next game to make our side the side with the larger number." This made me realize what is important is reflecting on what could've gone better, what I myself as well as the team need to do in order to improve. A skill I always use is trying to receive that game film as soon as possible and watching the entire game analyzing every touch I take, the body shape I am in when receiving the ball and all little details that I need to improve on in order to bring my game to the next level.
Thank you for your valuable time in reading this. Feel free to contact me at any time.
