Luca Scalera '27 Recruiting Profile

Hello coaches, My name is Luca Scalera and I am an attacking midfielder for the Beachside Soccer Club in the MLS Next League. I am a very driven individual with goals to perform at the highest levels in the classroom and on the soccer pitch. During my soccer career, I have been selected to attend three U.S. Soccer Talent ID Centers, to play in the 2023 U16 MLS NEXT All-Star Game and to represent North America in the Capelli Cup Denmark in July of 2024. In addition, I was selected to represent the U.S. at the National Center of Excellence’s 2008 Select Tournament in England, where I scored 3 goals and delivered 2 assists in 4 games against leading academy teams in the United Kingdom (Leicester City, Nottingham Forest & Reading FC). Lastly, one of my goals was featured as the MLS Next Goal of the Week. Playing with and against the highest levels of domestic and international talent has fueled my desire to constantly take my game to the next level. I work hard every day to improve my technical abilities and to be a better teammate. In the classroom, I also challenge myself to perform at the highest levels possible. I am currently taking 4 Honors level courses and have a GPA of 4.3 and was recently elected class Treasurer. My mother played Division 1 soccer at Fairfield University and she was named an All MAAC Scholar-Athlete, so she has always been my inspiration to excel in both athletics and academics.
