My priority in going to college is to learn and to achieve a degree in a study which will meet my goals for a career. At this point, as a sophomore/rising junior, I do not know what that will be. I know what interests me in school (marine biology, art, english and history), but I do not know, yet, what I want to do or focus on.
I hope to continue to display the leadership which has characterized my playing career. I was elected by my teammates, and coach, to captain my School's (St. Luke's School in New Canaan, CT) Varsity team as a rising Junior and I have started on that team since my freshman year, playing center back and helping my teammates, running the field from the back, taking most of our free kicks, assisting and even scoring.
I very much want to play soccer in college, in addition to my studies. I want to continue to play with a team, compete and, hopefully, excel at a game I love very much. I want to build on the success my club team, Shoreline FC, has had (we went to the Super Y National Finals this past December at the IMG campus and we have been the number one ranked U17 team in the State of CT).
The most important thing for me, in playing soccer, in school, is continuing to enjoy that team and family bond which I enjoy now on both my school and club teams.
I will work extremely hard, as I do now. I want to be the best teammate and player I can be and will take direction as I do in the classroom.I also want to be proactive, like I am on the field anticipating the play, and not reactive. I meet with all my teachers, on preassigned days, which I set up myself, to insure I know and understand the material and its preparation as I have worked to continually raise my grades. I am very self-motivated in this way.
