Dear Coaches,
My name is John Griffin and I'm a senior goalie at Southington High School in Southington, Connecticut. I started playing soccer my freshman year of high school. Prior to that I only played baseball as a catcher, pitcher and shortstop. I tried out for goalie freshman year after some of my soccer playing friends encouraged me to do so, after I played goalie for them while they were practicing over the summer. I ended up making the team and becoming the starting freshman goalie. That off season I made my premier travel team, PSC Dynamo team. My sophomore year I was the starting JV goalie and second string varsity goalie behind a future DI goalkeeper. During the off season I continued to play with my premier team, both indoor and outdoor.
With continued hard work, private goalie lessons, multiple soccer camps and solely focusing on playing soccer I split time with our varsity goalie, an eventual division I recruit, my Junior year. During that season I played in 8 complete games, where we went 6-2 while I was in goal and made the state tournament and won our division for the first time in 13 years. This year I'm the starting varsity goalie, we are 2-3 and I have 2 shutouts so far. I'm looking at a small to medium size school, < 15,000 students that I can play collegiate soccer. I'm primarily interested in D II or D III schools, but open to any and all offers.
