Why Should I be selected for Your College Roster

My name is Gabriel Haithcock. I am a high school junior from Macon, a decent-sized city in the middle of Georgia. I grew up in a normal house with two parents and two brothers. I am passionate about playing  soccer and academic excellence. I left home to attend IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida in order to enhance my athletic and academic abilities. I am sure that story applies the same to almost every student-athlete that attends my school and is applicable to every college applicant. . How am I any different? What makes me stand out from the rest? I knew from the very first day that I felt a ball at my feet, from the first time I held  a pencil in my hand that I wanted to be the best. I wanted to hear millions of people chant my name when I walk on the field, then turn around and walk across the stage to receive my certificate for graduating from medical school. Those dreams may seem far out of reach, but yet they are the only ones that fill my head when I close my eyes. However, in order to surpass the goals I set for myself I had to create my own standard. A certain set of laws that govern every decision I make from now till the end of time. At the core of these laws lie virtues like self-discipline, compassion, and humility. With these dreams in my head and this doctrine guiding my heart, I know I will be anything but ordinary.

Playing soccer has taught me a lot about the world that we live in. Because of it, I am now connected to everyone else in the world that shares a love for the game just like me. I have met so many people from so many different walks of life. My hopes are to one day start an organization that helps bring the game I love to places in the world where they need it most. Today, so many kids live in fear for their lives, praying that they’ll make it to see another day and these are the kids that I want to help the most. The chances that I were born where I was, in the situation I am in is truly one and a billion. I want to help communities all over the world that aren’t as fortunate. I want to give them something they can cherish for the rest of their lives. I want to see the next generation of boys and girls of the world come together and play rather then raise them to hate one another. This change has got to happen soon before it’s too late. All it takes is one person to make a child smile.
