My name is Gustavo de Paula, and I am a senior at Dr. Phillips High School, graduating in May 2025. I currently play as a defender for Florida Rush MLS Next U19, where I’ve had the privilege of competing at the highest level of youth soccer in the U.S. for the past four years. Throughout my soccer journey, I have developed into a versatile and courageous team player, able to adapt to various positions, including fullback, center-back, and defensive midfielder. This adaptability has been key in strengthening my overall understanding of the game and contributing to the success of my teams.

On the field, I pride myself on my defensive awareness, vision, and passing, skills that are showcased in my highlight reel. However, what truly sets me apart is my drive to constantly improve, both as a player and as a person. I believe that character plays a crucial role in athletics, and I always aim to lead by example with a strong work ethic, determination, and respect for both teammates and opponents.

Off the field, I am equally dedicated to my academic pursuits. I have earned recognition as an AP Scholar and through the National Hispanic Recognition Program, reflecting my commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics. I am passionate about computer science and am eager to pursue a degree in this field while continuing to play soccer at the collegiate level. My goal is to find a program that not only supports my athletic ambitions but also provides a strong academic foundation that will prepare me for success in the tech industry.
