My name is Miguelángel, “Migue” for short and I am a Puerto Rican born soccer player. Fútbol is part of my daily life whether is watching games, clips of plays, training, or playing. I have been playing soccer since I was eight years old, having been inspired by a video of Ronaldinho. Being on the pitch is when I am the happiest and free. I’m a competitive athlete who puts forth all I have in order to achieve victory with the team. I thrive on team chemistry demonstrated in-game; it is exciting to see a play come to fruition.
Throughout my first eight years in the sport, I played both school and club in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Since September 2017 however, I’ve been playing club and high school in Jacksonville, FL.
My exposure to different clubs throughout my fútbol career has given me an in-depth perspective in-game and of the sport. It has also allowed me to acquire new skills and strengthen my techniques and athletic fitness. I have and continue to grow as an athlete and as a person from the knowledge of those who have and continue to coach me. I truly enjoy the fraternization being part of a team brings. It is the camaraderie that sweetens the victories and pulls our strength in the loses. Plus, frequently being the “new kid” has helped me in becoming an adaptable individual.
I have medicine as an academic goal. My interest in medicine was kindled when I watched how a surgery in which a brain tumor was removed, drastically and significantly changed that person’s life for the better. Intertwined with my heart’s desire of being in a position in which I can be of help to others is why I have chosen the field of medicine as my academic goal.
I am looking into a university in which I can achieve both my academic and soccer goals. A place where I can thrive alongside my teammates, play soccer at the highest competitive level, and where my skills can be challenged so that I can reach my true potential. I believe my being team oriented, teachable, adaptable, and focus driven would be an asset to a University team and program.
