I am a person with passion. I love sports as they allow me to express myself, in a safe environment, like a fish in the ocean. I loved sports since I was a little boy in my elementary school where I was presented to soccer and running. I fell in love with soccer since I grabbed a soccer ball and rolled it around the field with my friends in 5K. I enjoyed running since I participated in third grade in a local kids one mile fun run. Soccer to me is like playing music in an orchestrated dance where me and my team mates interact with the ball to succeed in the game.
I am a person with values. My life has been shaped by diversity all along, from my relationships with my classmates in a bilingual elementary school in Mexico, to our move to the United States where my father was transferred by the paper manufacturing company who employs him. Multi-culture has always been a common factor in my life, from my discovery of a new cultural world in the United States, to the opening of our home to exchange students from other nations like Mexico and France. I am a person full of love to the things that make me proud to be Mexican with the same love to the things that make me proud to be American. From my Mexican heritage, I love the family reunions, the after meal conversations, the Christmas traditions to include the ‘Posadas’ and the Piñata. I love the music, soccer, and the food to include ‘chiles en nogada’, and ‘tacos’. From my American culture, I love the value of honor, the unconditional support to those less fortunate in our community, and traditions such as Thanksgiving. I love a walk in the woods, tennis, and food to include grits, hamburgers, and turkey legs.
I am a person with curiosity and hunger for knowledge. I enjoy school. I was in a bi-lingual school when I grew up in Mexico and then attended Catholic school when I moved to the United States. I like school because it is a place of learning, and because my mind gets nourished with things that others have discovered, or invented. This helps me be a more skilled, and educated. I have pursued challenges in my education and achieved top grades in challenging classes including Honors and AP. I was elected Treasurer of the student body at my middle school and Delegate at my High school. These positions have allowed me to develop my leadership skills and prepare me for the future.
I am a person with commitment. My community is a very important part of my life. The joy of giving back to society for how much society has given me is awesome. In support of my community, I have volunteered in many organizations such as ACTS, (Area Churches Together Serving), Boys Scouts of America, and March for Life. Ever since my initial encounter with the cub scouts in the 2th grade, the idea of being part of a troop, working together, and helping others, was appealing to my heart. Boy Scouts became one of my favorite hobbies. As a scout I have held many different positions including Patrol Leader. My most satisfying position was achieving the Eagle Scout rank and proudly serve my community.
I am a person of dreams. I dream to continue my passion for soccer at a college level, while I continue my higher education to become successful in the medical field. I dream to continue applying my values and exemplify diversity through my background and my actions. I dream to fulfill my hunger for knowledge in college and beyond as life is a constant learning. I dream to continue to show my commitment and support to society. As a college soccer player and top grade student, I look forward for my success in life.
