William Collins '23 Recruiting Profile

Hey coaches, my name is Will Collins, and I am a goalkeeper in the class of 2023. Ever since I was little, I have been blessed to be very athletic, competitive, and always found love while playing different sports. Whether I playing soccer, baseball, football, basketball, or even golf, on a team or in my backyard, I am able to succeed in each of them. Due to the fact that I played many sports growing up, I am a very well rounded player. For instance, due to my baseball background, I am able to throw a soccer ball easily to midfield, catch shots more efficiently, and field shots that are coming my way quickly. In addition, my football skills have helped me become bigger, stronger, and fearless while I'm on the soccer pitch. My basketball history has also helped me develop as a soccer player by giving me the ability to use my body's leverage, and block out other players in addition to jumping more aggressively to catch the ball. This will limit the ability for the other team to score on corner kicks, as well as crosses into the box. Even though I am not playing baseball or basketball anymore, I have mastered the skills of these sports and I know that the combination of them has helped me become a better overall soccer player.

My main academic goal throughout high school is to keep my high GPA and to continue to challenge myself in the difficulty of the courses that I take. For example in the fall, I play high school football and club soccer at the same time. Therefore after school, I attend 2 different practices during the fall semester. Meanwhile, I am still able to maintain a high level GPA while balancing AP, accelerated, and gifted courses. For these reasons, I am willing to push myself and take on large and challenging tasks. This goes on to say that attending a college that is strong in academics, is very important to me.
