Throughout high school, I have thrived to be the top of my class sustaining a 4.0 GPA and taking college courses, which have given me the opportunity to prepare for college. I enjoy volunteering with and supporting my local non-profits. I have raised money with MDA fill the boot project with the fire department to help children struggling with Muscular Dystrophy disease, helped with conservation work with the Malama Learning Center and Hui O Mililani with beach clean ups, clearing out invasive species and replanting native plants, and volunteering time with Special Olympics and National AYSO tournaments as a referee.
I can adapt to different environments such as playing and living in different areas of the world. For example, I have traveled with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) state, regional, and international teams and my soccer club (Nemesis) throughout the United States for many years playing against the top teams. My peers and friends look up to me and get motivated in everything I do like showing up to practice early to help the coach set up, and being the last one to leave, helping break down equipment. I stay longer after practice to work on improving my soccer skills.
Furthermore, I am a hard-working competitor, my coach has pushed me by giving my team restrictions before we could score, like getting a certain amount of passing, or random turnovers to help push us to work harder. Through this experience I understand the importance of teamwork and having others to rely on during stressful situations. By doing this he has motivated my team and me to persevere to accomplish any task. I respect my coaches and am attentive to others.
My academic goals are to complete college and receive my Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing (BSN), and further my education to get my doctorate in nursing. From there I hope to work as a nurse part-time and become a firefighter full time. My parents have influenced my decision to further my education, my mother is a nurse and my father is a firefighter. They are first responders who save lives especially during this pandemic, they interact with people daily by advocating for their patients, and teaching fire safety.
