Personal Statement
I am from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. I stand 6' tall and weigh 140 lbs. I have been playing soccer since I have been old enough to walk and kick a ball. It all started in the small backyard of my house with neighborhood kids. Soccer is the most popular sport in my country and hence part of a Sunday afternoon ritual for most. However, soccer for me overtime grew to become my strongest passion and a sport I envision myself playing professionally. I currently play as a forward for my high school Lycee's soccer team as the youngest player. Despite my age, I bring to my team hard work, discipline, and dedication. I have earned a spot of one of the starting eleven and have lead my team to a regional championship this school year. I believe what differentiates me from other players is my passion for the sport, dedication and continuous strive to become a better athlete. When I graduate from high school in 2015, my dream is to play for a Division 1 (first preference) or Division II university. My goal is to earn a bachelor's degree as an Engineering major. The challenge that I will be facing to attend my dream school is obtaining the financial assistance required for tuition and fees.
